Throwing a safe NYE event

A lot of otherwise sensible and staid people use New Year's Eve as an excuse to go absolutely wild. It can be great fun watching people having a good time on New Year's Eve, but as an event organiser I also need to put a lot of effort into making sure that the night is safe for everyone that attends. People don't realise that I spend most of the year getting our NYE events in order, just so that they can have a magical night. This blog is for people organising events like New Year's Eve parties in their communities, who want to ensure the safety of the participants.

Hot Wedding Decor Trends You'll Want to Consider for Your Big Day

Blog

The wedding decor you choose will help set the tone and the mood of your wedding and will serve as the backdrop of photos. You should consider decor while you plan all other details of your wedding and reception. You'll want the decor to coordinate with the style of your dress, the colour of your bridal party dresses and flowers and so much more. Consider a few hot wedding decor trends you might discuss with your wedding planner so you know that no detail is overlooked for your big day.

Patterns and prints

Rather than solid tablecloths and chair covers, opt for patterns and prints. This can include a printed or patterned runner going down the length of tables at the reception, patterned chair covers or a nice print on the napkins. These elements offer great visual interest and are a good way to break up your colour scheme so you don't feel as if your wedding and reception are overwhelmed with just one solid colour.

Mixed elements

Many brides today don't want their overall decor to look too organized, or too "matchy-matchy," and may prefer a more casual look. You can achieve this by mixing up your centrepieces and even your place settings. Choose two or three coordinating plate designs and complementary centrepieces or other accessories, and mix these up in the reception area. This will ensure you don't wind up with a regimented look for your event.

Rustic and vintage

Rather than formal and elegant, brides today may be choosing rustic and vintage accessories and other items to create their wedding theme. This might include rustic wooden tables for the reception versus formal dining tables, or a vintage light fixture versus an elegant chandelier. Shop in second-hand stores or vintage stores for inspiration when it comes to your decorations, place settings and even the furniture you choose for your venue and reception.

Eco-friendly

Many brides and grooms are concerned with how their wedding receptions may actually impact the environment; one eco-friendly choice includes potted plants for centrepieces rather than flowers, as plants help clean the air and reduce air pollution. Avoid all plastic ware and disposable plates, as well as balloons, as these materials are not very biodegradable. For your bouquet, choose locally grown flowers so you don't add to the fumes and emissions of trucks that deliver exotic blooms from out of state or even out of the country.
